In Sweden now after working at Ghost VFX. I originally signed on for 3 months that turned into 4 then 5 and now it's 6 months since I started there. It's been fun and I would love to come back and work there again, there is some really talented and kind people working there. I thought I would try something a bit different, so I will start lecturing at my old University, Interactive Academy - School of Visual Effects for 1 month in Digital Compositing and Commercial Production. It's going to be nice to see old classmates and teachers again and come back to Sweden.
I'm back from my big trip around the world and I don't regret it for one second. It was simply amazing and I would recommend it to everyone to do it once in your lifetime. I did howerer miss working with film, it's weird right, longing for your job when you are on vacation? But now I'm back with loads of motivation and inspiration to do new things.
I have made the hard decision to quit my job at Prime Focus London and go on the trip of my life. It felt like the right time to do it, I have been working at PFL for a long time and I have learned a lot, I just want to see what else is out there and search for new challenges. I first fly to LA on October 1st and then roadtripping around CA, NV, AZ and Mexico for a month, then over to New Zealand for a month going with the Kiwi buses around both islands. Then I fly to Brisbane for a roadtrip to the great barrier reef and then down to celebrate New Years in Sydney. After that we head to Bangkok, Bali, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. I will be back in Sweden at the beginning of February.
It's been a lot of broadcast work since my last update, shows for Discovery Channel, History Channel and a Promo for Madonna. I have also done tests for a big feature film witch I unfortunately can't get into detail about. Christoffer has left PFL and is moving to Vancouver to work as a TD for our sister company Frantic Films. It's sad that he is leaving but I wish him the best of luck in Canada and I hope I will have the opportunity to work with him again.
Happy New Year! I went to the club Paramount for my new years party, it's situated on the top three floors in the Centre Point building overlooking all of London. It was so much fun and definitely the best place to be on New Years! On the job front I have been working on The Maiden Heist for Frantic Films and me and Theo went to supervise a shoot for History Channel called History of America, it was great fun and a really good experience.
A lot has happened since the last time I updated the site, I have finished many projects, my friend Christoffer from my old school is now a compositor here at PFL, the Film VFX department have changed offices to across the street to 64 Dean Street and we are now beta testers for Eyeon Generation. It's a nice application that is similar to Assimilate Scratch and it's going to play a big part in our next feature film, Nine Miles Down. It will start next week whilst I still have some shots left on The Tournament so it's going to be a busy summer. You can find more information about Generation here: at Eyeon and an article at Fxguide.com
Three new interns are here at Prime starting out exactly as I did, I hope they are going to like it here. I finished two new Promos, one for a band called Make model that you can find over here at Bens site. And one for Jack Penate that you can see here at Youtube. Next project starts on Wednesday and will be a feature film called "The Garden of Eden", based on a novel by Ernest Hemingway starring Jack Huston, Mena Suvari and Caterina Murino.
I have now finished the feature film "Agent Crush", and I went to the BAFTAs for the crew screening. Not really my kind of film, but I hope some people will enjoy it. They got a really good cast though with Neve Campbell, Ioan Gruffudd and Sir Roger Moore. I also worked with Ben again on his promo for singer/songwriter Paddy Casey. We had many long nights sitting after work, working on it, but it was great fun and I enjoyed it. I think its amazing what he can do with such a small budged.
It's been an hectic couple of weeks with finishing up "Tales of The Riverbank" and working extra with Ben on his new promo. It is my first feature film and I ended up working on 52 shots, doing everything from derig to compositing 3D. The hardest part was that it was fur everywhere, so derig and keying got very tricky, but when you do succeed with a really tricky derig on fur, you learn a lot from it. The same day I got finished with Tales I got offered to work on Agent Crush witch is a movie similar to Team America, but looks a lot better. I didn't get any time to rest between the movies but Agent Crush is so easy without fur :)
Our whole pipeline both in India and here in London is switching over to Fusion, I'm not to fond of Fusion the little I have tried it, but once I get used to it it will be fine. The new version 5.2 looks promising though with Python scripting, Vector Motion Blur and the workflow improvements. I have also been reading about LUA with is the programming language in Fusion, I have done some minor scripts and I'm looking forward to learn more about it.
I'm still working on "Tales of the Riverbank" that has its deadline on the 31st of August. I have also been working extra on a promo for the UK band Foals directed by Ben Rollason and it`s now rolling on MTV. You can find it here. After a lot of problems with the flat in West Hampstead I'm moving to a new flat at Tower Bridge road.
As you can see further down on the site I got my first VFX job at Prime Focus London so im moving from my hometown Kalmar to West Hampstead in London.
I had a great time in London, both at work and outside of work, you just cant have a dull moment in that town. Now I'm back in Sweden for my graduation but I'm not staying for long...
